鈥嬧婦uring the regular County Council meeting July 11, Los Alamos resident Brady Burke, left, speaks during the public comment period regarding the proposed rate ordinance that would result in increased refuse, recycling and solid waste facility fees for commercial and residential cu stanley quencher stomers. Environmental Services Division Manage stanley polska r Angelica Gurule and Publ stanley cup ic Works Director Philo Shelton listen to Burke, who opposed the proposed rate increases and advised sending the ordinance back for further review. County Council approved the ordinance 6-1. Councilor James Chrobocinski voted against the ordinance. The increases are $3 per month or a 13 .6 percent increase for residential customers and a 3 percent increase for commercial customers. This means homeowners will pay $25 a month for trash and recycling services. In FY 17, they paid $22 a month. Commercial businesses will play a total of $146 for both trash and recycle dumpsters. In FY17, businesses were charged $141.46. The new rates will go into effect Sept. 1.
