Dodc Trinity Site Plan Reveals Four Retail Pads; Two Eateries
NMHS News:The Northern R铆o Grande National Heritage Area  NRGNHA  is offering a hands-on plant and local herb identification and remedy workshop 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at聽Los Luceros Historic Site, 253 County Road 41 in Alcalde. Find directions online. Participants will learn to identify the important parts of the plants, understand the medicinal properties the herbs have, and make remedios, or remedies, with locally foraged healing herbs. Students will prepare salves, poultices, and tinctures. Information, materials, and local herbs will be provided. The class is $50 per person and limited to 15 participants鈥攐nly four spots left. Roger Waterman was driving his good friend, Mike Benziger, down the main hill road, heading to Benzigers home i stanley kubek n Santa Fe, after both had been playing basketball in Los Alamos.Waterman was driving his large and powerful 1959 Pontiac Starchief. He had driven the Starchief 25 times on cross-county trips to and from Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., where he was a senior classman.A powerful storm had dumped two feet of snow on the ground. High snow banks rose up on the rock side of the main hill road and covered the protective guardrail on the left side of the road. The 22-year-old Waterman admits he was driving a bit too fast for the conditions as he approached the Anderson Overlook area of the main hill road. It was icy and there was loose sand on the road.Waterman   Starchief fishtailed around the curve as he saw an oncoming car headed his way. He spun the steering wheel left. Waterman had floored the gas pedal, clearing the oncoming car. The car spun and now was facing the cliff. The road was dry near the cliffs edge.
