London: An opposition Labour Party politician is leading a drive to seek government funding to boost the uptake of Indian languages in British schools, with official figures showing a sharp decline in pupils studying Gujarati, Bengali, and Punjabi in recent years.   Gareth Thomas, member of Parliament for Harrow West in north London a prominent Gujarati area of the UK capital, has been campaigning on the issue for years and recently raised it in Parliament with Leader of House of Commons Penny Mordaunt. ROCKLAND, Maine 鈥?The status of the standoff between the City Council and city manager remains in limbo after a two-hour closed-door meeting Thursday evening.Mayor Louise MacLellan-Ruf said no action was taken as a result of the executive session. She said the council is not negotiating a separation agreement with City Manager James Chaousis and he has not submitted a resignation.The council met with attorney Linda McGill of Portland, who specializes in labor law.
