Frank Borman, an astronaut who flew on the Apollo 8 mission that orbited the moon, has died, NASA announced. He was 95.Borman died Tuesday in Billings, Montana, according to NASA.NASA administrator Bill Nelson, in a statement, called Borman one of NASA s best and a true American hero. His lifelong love for aviation and exploration was only surpassed by his love for his wife Susan, Nelson added. Apollo 8, launched in 1968, was the first NASA mission to both leave low Earth orbit and reach the moon. Borman, along with astronauts James Lovell, and William Anders, orbited the moon 10 times before returning to Earth. They were the first humans ever to see the far s stanley cup ide of the moon. DENVER -- A hiker who was struck through the head by lightning is credi yeezy ting his jordan now deceased 7-month-old German shepherd with helping to share the blow.Survivors of a lightning strike on one of Colorado s highest peaks talked about their frightening experience with CBS Denver and showed their scars from Mother Nature. The strike happened Sunday morning on Mount Bierstadt. The climbers were 500 feet from the summit when they were rocked by a violent storm. Crews rushed three people to the hospital but 12 others were able to walk away. CBS Denver s Kathy Walsh talked to those most seriously hurt. All three are home recovering on Monday. They say it happened in an instant. They are injured but so grateful to be alive. But they also mourn the loss of a beautiful German shepherd who may have saved his owner s life.Jonathan Hardman suffered cuts and bruises on his body -- and his heart is broken because his dog was killed by the strike.
