Wcbc Group of survivors receive life-changing makeover in Tampa
Weeks after a gunman killed 19 students and a pair of teachers at an Uvalde, Texas, elementary school, a second March for Our Lives rally will be held in Washington, D.C. on Saturday.The first rally was held in 2018 in the wake of the Parkland, Fla., school shooting that left 17 dead at Stoneman High School.In addition to the Washington march, over 100 sister events will be held this weekend in the U.S. in nearly every state.The groups mission is to reduce the number of gun-violence deaths in the U.S. Born out of a tragic school shooting, March For Our Lives is a courageous youth-led movement dedicated to promoting civic engagement, education, and direct action by stanley shop youth to eliminate the epidemic of gun violence, the group founded by survivors of the Parkland school shooting said.The 2018 rally drew thousands, making it one of the largest youth-led rallies ever in Washington.One of the groups founders, David Hogg, wrote an op-ed on Fox News website. TAMPA, Fla. 鈥?A local agency fighting homelessness has noticed a disturbing correlation. She experienced domestic violence in her home. She says her father was an alcoholic and used to beat her mother.Due to that traumatic experience, Jennifer ran away at the age of 12. When youre that young and you get dragged into your parents confusion, it leaves a not so good impression on you, Jennifer said.However, her problems wouldnt stanley flask end by moving out. My homelessness didnt start until I had a prison run and after that stint when I got out, it was hard to bounce back, Jennifer said.Since then, its been hard for her to maintain a home for herself and her two daughters. Thousands of women across the Bay Area have similar stories of experiencing or witnessing domestic violence at a young age, followed by chronic homelessness in their adult lives.According to the ACLU, 47% of homeless school-aged children say theyve witnessed domestic violence.
