After having nine children in as many years, you might think Rayna and Malcolm Warriner's brood is complete.* F+ U* }# a& \) d, \4 E

But, with one seat spare in the family minibus, the couple feel they still have a gap to fill.

The couple support their six girls and three boys on the wages Mr Warriner earns as a police sergeant, without the aid of benefits. # L, `$ v% j0 ^! V

Mrs Warriner is now considered to be at high risk of complications if she becomes pregnant again.

But despite the potential problems, and the considerable squeeze on their finances, she says she remains hooked on motherhood.

"People think we are mad but the children are our life and bring us so much pleasure.

Mrs Warriner spends her exhausting 17-hour day ferrying her children to various schools and nurseries, doing four loads of washing, shopping, cooking, cleaning and reading countless bedtime stories.

Mr Warriner, 45, who is applying for promotion to inspector to help support his brood, added: "When we got married ten years ago, Rayna said she’d like four children and I joked that I wanted eight. % U" K* i9 |# w' A" L* n

"We agreed to settle for six but it hasn’t worked out that way."

He added: "We haven’t had a holiday for years or a night out together. We don’t have a social life but I don’t feel I’m missing out."
