另有网友指出，这句话里使用冠词「The」，而且Chinaman一词用的是单数形式（singular form），应该是特指某人或某事，不是泛指中国人。所以也有可能指的是在拉斯维加斯颇受欢迎的演出「The Chinaman」。所以不必望文生义，如果写成复数形式Chinamen，再告不迟。人在德国 社区! ^7 U# x" }- k% p

Clifford Kubiak, a professor of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of California San Diego, has posted an apology for an offensive term that was used on his laboratory’s website.

In a list of “lab rules,” apparently meant to be humorous, there was the phrase: “Don’t believe anything the Chinaman says.”
