After having nine children in as many years, you might think Rayna and Malcolm Warriner's brood is complete.

But, with one seat spare in the family minibus, the couple feel they still have a gap to fill.

"We have one more seat to fill in our 12-seater minibus. If my husband said that’s it, we would stop, but we both enjoy having children so much."

Then on January 27 she gave birth to Avie, weighing 7lb 11oz, at Poole Hospital in Dorset.

She had a difficult labour this time round, and needed a blood transfusion after problems with the placenta. * {" v# u- ?9 h6 {7 \6 \' Q* w

Mrs Warriner is now considered to be at high risk of complications if she becomes pregnant again.

- S% D1 j# i2 ?. u2 [But despite the potential problems, and the considerable squeeze on their finances, she says she remains hooked on motherhood.

Mrs Warriner spends her exhausting 17-hour day ferrying her children to various schools and nurseries, doing four loads of washing, shopping, cooking, cleaning and reading countless bedtime stories.

To accommodate their family, the couple, from Bournemouth, have had an extra-large bath fitted and have extended their six-bedroom detached house.

/ ?' A" z) P7 _  u# mThey spend £170 a week on their food bill. And as a result of rising bills, they have not been on holiday for three years. , c/ m  d9 R4 W" K1 n

/ k6 O: o& m' n. g- A3 b* |# F  w7 lThey struggle to organise even a weekend away as hotels and holiday homes are unable to accommodate so many children.

7 X! i$ |" d! R! n& {  {" L* FMr Warriner, 45, who is applying for promotion to inspector to help support his brood, added: "When we got married ten years ago, Rayna said she’d like four children and I joked that I wanted eight.   T3 P- {! V1 D1 f3 T1 G

He added: "We haven’t had a holiday for years or a night out together. We don’t have a social life but I don’t feel I’m missing out."
